Substance Misuse Support
If you or a loved one needs support through substance misuse recovery, there are several great organisations in Northamptonshire who support the Armed Forces Community.
Information provided to these organisations will be treated confidentially and you will always be treated with respect when accessing the services.
You can self-refer to these organisations or ask or a referral from a professional. If you need help and advice, please speak to your GP in the first instance:
Local Support
Bridge are a commissioned service that provide peer mentoring support. Clients must be at least 18 years of age to use their service. The mentors at the Bridge have all overcome substance misuse themselves, and therefore have a good understanding of addiction and recovery. We currently host a monthly Community Hub event at the Bridge in Northampton at 63c Gold Street, NN1 1RA. Inspire is an alcohol and drug service for adults, young people and communities across West Northamptonshire. They offer harm reduction advice, alcohol and drug treatment programmes and a welcoming recovery community, all tailored to individual goals.
Aquarius raise awareness through training to frontline staff and volunteers about alcohol and drug abuse, and gambling. They can also provide support and advice to families.
National Support
Drinkline (0300 123 1110) provides free, confidential help for people concerned about their drinking or someone else’s.
FRANK (0300 123 660) is a national drug education service and helpline.
GamCare (0808 8020 133) provides support, information, and advice to anyone affected by problem gambling.
Al-Anon (0800 008 6811) provides support to the family and friends of problem drinkers.
