Volunteering is a great way to help your local community, build your CV and create new social networks.
Volunteering could be for a few hours a month or as little as a few hours a week. The variety of different roles is huge, and ex-military personnel have a great range of skills that are highly valued by the voluntary sector.
Volunteering in Northamptonshire
Community Action Northants enables potential volunteers to find the perfect opportunity for them across the county.
Voluntary Impact Northamptonshire are based in Northampton and offer support to voluntary groups. They can assist in finding the right volunteer role for you.
The South Northants Volunteer Bureau can point you in the direction of opportunities in the south of the county.
Daventry Volunteers promote opportunities in the Daventry area.
Northamptonshire Carers have a number of different volunteering opportunities available from a monthly fishing group to a telephone befriender.
Organisations such as the Royal British Legion and SSAFA are very active in the county and are always on the lookout for new volunteers to assist the Veteran community and their families.
There are lots of volunteering opportunities available in libraries across the county, in both the West Northants Library Service and the North Northants Library Service.
If you prefer the outdoors, there are lots of voluntary opportunities available in the West Northants Parks Service or the North Northants Park Service.
Northamptonshire Sport are keen to work with people who could aid the recovery of service personnel and make the county more active.
There are a number of food banks and community larders across the county which you could volunteer your time for.
Volunteering with Young People
There are a number of organisations that you can support locally to volunteer alongside young people and support them to grow, whilst developing new skills yourself.
